Technical Support Officer – Malta

Our client is a leading financial institution is seeking to recruit a Technical Support Officer to join the Information Technology Unit.

 

Responsibilities

 

The key responsibilities are:

 

Performing daily infrastructure operations by maintaining both hardware and software systems in good operational order.
Performing daily Core Business Systems operations including but not limited to the Bank’s end of day processes.
Providing general IT Helpdesk support for all desktop systems (hardware & software) and also support the other IT teams in their on-going analysis of helpdesk requests with an aim at introducing efficiencies and fine tuning of processes.
Supporting operations in the Bank’s Data Centres in line with maintenance and security requirements.
Supporting the administration of the Bank’s network & systems.  This includes but is not limited to the creation, maintenance and removal of users, user access rights, etc.
Providing on-site support to a number of remote sites.
Troubleshooting both physical and logical networks.
Performing the Bank’s critical end of day batch processes, which include evening and Saturday schedules.
Performing the necessary backups and restore operations and other disaster recovery operations.
Performing routine checks on the various bank systems (networks, hardware and software) and maintaining appropriate records of such checks.
Sharing technical knowledge and ways of resolution with other team members.
Educating business end users on how to make effective use of their technological tools (hardware & software) to speed up problem resolution.
Competences and experiences

 

The potential candidate should have a positive attitude, be well-organised, have a strong aptitude to learn, be meticulous and team-oriented.

 

You must also:

 

Have an MCAST / University Degree in a related ICT area of specialisation.
Have some working experience in an IT support role/function.
Be familiar with RDBMs, ideally with MSSQL 2005 (MSSQL 2008) server or later including some basic database administration.
Be familiar with database reporting, ideally with MSRS.
Have a good command SQL scripting and development skills.
Have a flair for database and/or software development.
Be flexible and willing to learn banking processes and systems.
